TRIATHLON TRAINING

Our base in Macot france offers the athlete who wants to train at their own pace an ideal opportunity to train.

Swim

The local lake just minutes away is great for some open water swim training. The water quality is very good and the surroundings and views of the mountains superb. The lake is available for swimming from May to October.

Lake Annecy, about 1hr away offers fantastic opportunities to get in some real long distance lake swimming with fantastic surroundings. In addition, Lake Bourget is only 1hr 15mins away.

Bourg St Maurice, just 13km away, boasts a swimming complex with outdoor 50m pool and a separate 25m pool. They do always have lanes available for training during public sessions. The outdoor 50m pool is only open during July and August.

Aigueblanche also offers a 25m indoor pool for swimming in September and October.

Bike

The region boasts a tremendous number of cols for the keenest of cyclists to undertake, many of which have been part of the Tour de France over the years:

Col de la Madeleine, Col de Petit St Bernard, Col de L'Iseran, Cormet de Roselend, La Plagne, Courchevel, Les Arcs to name but a few.

We supply the route maps and Paul can advise on suitable routes depending on time, profile and difficulty.

There are easy flatter routes for a fast workout as well as longer rides to test the best cyclists.

Run

There is a cycle and run route that runs along the banks of the River Isere stretching from Aime all the way to Bourg St Maurice, some 15km, by the rapids of the river and away from any motorised vehicle. In addition, there are numerous forest tracks, mountain tracks and flatter routes around some leisure areas where all your running needs are catered for.

We supply the route maps or guide the runs ourselves. Here is an example of one of the routes: 10km LOOP

There is even a 400m running track in Aime and a further track in Moutiers.

In July the famous 6000D event takes place from Macot la Plagne to the glacier at La Plagne and back, some 55km of trail running with a 3000m ascent followed by 3000m descent!
