Long Distance Training Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival day – set up bikes and discuss programme for the week
Day 2: Cycle towards Bourg St Maurice (15km), climb towards Les Arcs
(5km), return via Les Chapelles (10km climb), descend towards la Cote d’Aime (8km) & Granier (4km climb)
Return to Macot (12km)
Change shoes and in to an easy 6km run
Possible early evening swim
Day 3: Cycle to Bourg St Maurice (15km) then climb to the Col de Petit St Bernard (30km), descend in to Italy (La Thuile, 12km), lunch, then return back up to the Col de Petit St Bernard (12km) and descend to Bourg St Maurice before the undulating route back to Macot (15km).
Change shoes and straight in to an easy 10km run
Possible early evening swim
Day 4: Cycle to Bourg St Maurice (15km) then climb to the Cormet de
Roselend (20km). Descend to Beaufort (20km). Lunch, then a fairly flat cycle to Albertville (20km). An undulating ride up the Tarentaise valley to Moutiers (30km).
Possible climb to Notre Dame du Pre (10km average 7%) and descend to Macot (12km) or return along main route to Macot (15km)
Optional run
Early evening swim
Day 5: Rest day – a change to do some white water rafting or take the bike
out for a climb up to La Plagne (17km average 7%)
Day 6: Drive to Lake Annecy with bikes
1hour swim then straight on to bikes
Supported return ride via Col de Tamie
Change shoes and aim for 20km run
Day 7: Long bike ride
Day 8: Pack up bikes
